Never planned to BUT cudn't resist!!
Alyssum @$1.99 from Lowes: got a pack of six. It had lovely white flowers and beautiful fragrance. Re-potted @3 in my green container & 2 in on of the hanging basket which i plan to report again in the Costco empty salad plastic box.
But it is stange after repotting it.... the plants have totally given up on flowering. There is not even a single flower now...maybe its working on its roots...hope so...wish so!!
The sun decided to shine more regularly in April which resulted in my tiny white flower blanket.
Snapdragon @$1 from Lowes (11 feb'10).... poor thing was badly root bound and without water since days... soil was very dry but i thought i could try to revive it.... $1 was not a bad deal. I got it home, next day nearly tore off half its roots as the container i had planned to re-pot it (my Costco salad plastic box) was half the height of the container in which i got snapdragon. I was not very hopeful of the outcome....but it showed no signs of shock and looks beautiful hanging out from my patio. Just love it.
They grew at a speed and i had to tie them together so that the stems dnt break. It has been windy lately and most of the flowers have broken off.
Zonal Geranium @$ 1.50 (22feb'10) from Walmart at Roseville. have re-potted it in a similar container as snapdragon. It did not show any sign of shock but i really dnt know if it will live. As similar to snapdragon its soil was dry dry dry & the leaves were yellow and had holes in them. my only hope was i saw few new leaves so maybe it might live...but too early to say. ..... dnt have any pictures yet ..will post later. Even the color of this Geranium is a mystery..i wish it is pink or red...lets see.
what color will the flower be was still a suspense!!!

Update : my indoor jungle!
So the plants have been doing well. Re-potted both the leggy tomatoes. Buried their stem up till the first leaves to develop stronger roots...yes! tomatoes develop roots on stems if you bury them in soil...makes the root stronger.
Also planted seeds of rosemary & Portulaca (seeds collected from last season plant) on 12 feb... they have little seedlings popping up.
I made a few changes to my light setting but now back to the original one....my plants are becoming stronger and sun is being generous so i keep my plants out for a couple of hours whenever there is sun in my patio.

I am back!!
So i went into hibernation during winters......there was lots i could have grown but i didnt know what to grow. Have educated myself and ready for next winter. But as of now, its time to look forward to spring... preparations started indoors by early January.
I read a lot and learnt a lot during past few months...i didnt want to miss on this spring. So here i am jotting down all that i have done till date for my spring/summer preparation.
Its been nearly 20 days and my seedlings have been growing well. On 2nd Feb i planted more seeds, this time in potting soil & Sta Green potting mix. Have also added Bell pepper & Rosemary to the list. Did not plant Lobelia again...already have lot of them and i think i am late for it now. Will try to throw a few seeds in march itself.

I read a lot and learnt a lot during past few months...i didnt want to miss on this spring. So here i am jotting down all that i have done till date for my spring/summer preparation.
- Did a little winter-sowing, but i doubt it will work here or i need it here in Sacramento - there has been just one day of little snow.
- Bought three wrought iron window boxes: $17 each , 7 packet of seeds and Gardner's potting soil.
- Seed starter pots from Dollar Tree...the small ones were 10 for just $1
- Bougth Freesias bulbs from Walmart for $5 (20bulbs)
- Planted Freesias bulbs on 10 Jan'10 in corner of one of the window box(4 bulbs in Gardner's potting soil) and one old white color Dollar tree dustbin (5 bulbs in Sta green potting mix)
- I planted seeds in my old STA green potting mix & Black magic potting mix(Biglots!$0.95) on 12 January
- 15th Jan '10 the S showed me Roma tomato seedling popping up...till that time i had no light arrangement for the seedlings to grow but this crazy seedling grew 2 inches in one and a half day... so i felt the need for Light System.
- Have always been against using lights to grow plants ... what the fun plus it costs$$ ..but finally convinced myself- anything for something i enjoy doing! So i made a micro mini light/greenhouse - whatever you name it but it did help my seeds to grow into healthy seedlings. But this was after trying three different types of CHEAp setups.
- FINAL SETUP:
- Few days later Petunia Dwarf and Lobelia popped up.... the germination in both type of mixes was at the same time.
- Next in line were Wave petunia & Jelly Bean Tomatoes....well this is all i had planted and all my seeds germinated except for one Wave petunia pot showing no sighns of germination...this was the one with Stagreen potting mix... i think the problem was with the seed...i trust Sta-Green.
- After a few days i noticed the seedlings in potting mix are growing faster and healthy that black magic potting mix.... u did it again Biglots... have already buying anything from u!
